#7 – Fit the right locks to your doors and windows
Do you know a 5 lever mortice deadlock from a rim lock, a hinge bolt from a locking bar? Possibly not. But an insurer does and if they specify certain types of locking device, your theft claim could be turned down if your security is not up to scratch.
Most insurers now specify that certain types of door and window lock must be fitted to your home and business so if you are not sure, talk to a locksmith or someone like me, who can give you the right advice!
