Following a recent planned operation (I’m fine, don’t worry!), I’ve had a bit of recovery time on my hands to catch up with the news and all the current goings on that I usually have to hear about through the grapevine. Anyway, whilst putting my feet up and being waited on hand on foot (it’s about time!), I got thinking about the recent article on BBC News about the progress being made with driverless cars. When it first came on, I had to check I had not taken too many painkillers…but yes; I was fully functional; and what I was hearing was true – in the not too distant future we will be able to call up a car using an app on our phone (bizarre!), to be transported to our destination whilst reading a book and without fear of collision!
I wondered how this will affect car insurance. Would there be a need for it? Would I have a job?!
And then I concluded that the likelihood is that elements of such cars will be incorporated into modern vehicles to make driving even safer. I think it will probably be a long time before we are being driven around whilst drinking a cup of tea and reading the daily newspaper (or 50 Shades of Grey!). In the meantime, I have a job to get back to!
