So tax discs disappear from 1st October.

The duty is still payable as normal and we will continue to be sent the reminder letter but wasn’t it great to have that little reminder sat in the windscreen?

The duty can also now be paid monthly….for a charge and I’m sure that will swell the Treasury coffers.  Let’s hope they continue to spend the income on road improvements.

Overall it sounds great but what also goes is the ability to transfer the tax when buying or selling a vehicle. The seller must notify DVLA of the sale and DVLA will automatically issue a refund. What that means for the buyer is that legally they must apply for the tax before using the vehicle. Complicated for a private buyer! I wonder how well that will work!
