#6 – Comply with policy warranties
This is a big one! Failure to comply with an insurance policy warranty means the insurer can decline to deal with your claim and even cancel the insurance.
Typical business insurance warranties include:
- Clearing up and removing waste in a specific way and timescale
- Using locks and alarm systems
- Precautions to be taken when using heat
- No use of portable gas heaters
- Storing stock above a certain height
So keep an eye out for warranties and make sure you comply or query them with your insurer or broker.
