11 Ways to help get your insurance claim paid.
#2 – Tell your insurer about previous claims.
Being honest with an insurer is fundamental and they need to know about the claims you have made in order to work out their premium. So if they find out you haven’t told them about a claim you had in say, the past 3 or 5 years, they could decide not to pay a claim you make now. There is now a central database of certain types of claim so they can check if they have any suspicions so it’s best not to risk it.
It’s also important to tell them about incidents you didn’t claim for. An example might be if your business had suffered several small incidents of vandalism, you then changed insurer but didn’t tell them about these incidents and then suffered from vandalism damage causing thousand’s of pounds of damage. The insurer might decline to pay.
